KT Launches Up to 800Gbps "AI Dedicated Line" to Strengthen AI Data Center Links
Key points
- KT launches AI dedicated line of up to 800Gbps
- Responds to demand for bulk transfers between AI data centers
- Bandwidth expanded eightfold from before
KT launched an "AI dedicated line" on the 14th for large-volume data transfers between AI data centers (AIDCs). It is an ultra-high-speed, ultra-low-latency network service supporting bandwidth of up to 800Gbps. Several outlets, including iNews24 and Chosun Biz, reported the same content.
Korea NGO News and Digital Today reported that KT cited the spread of generative AI and growing AI infrastructure investment as the background to the launch. Chosun Biz explained that as AI data centers are built across the country, a network that can reliably exchange large volumes of data between centers has become necessary. AI Newspaper (인공지능신문) pointed out that the amount of data moving for AI training and inference is surging.
Outlets describe the performance figures differently. Chosun Biz said in its headline that bandwidth is eight times the previous level, and Digital Daily explained that it expands dedicated line bandwidth that was previously around 100Gbps. Techworld News wrote that it offers bandwidth of up to 400Gbps and 800Gbps.
EBN reported that the service aims to secure demand for connections between AI data centers by strengthening ultra-high-speed, ultra-low-latency network infrastructure. Meanwhile, according to EBN, KT on the 13th also released eight subscription products that include Google Gemini, starting at 7,500 won a month.
