OpenAI Models Added to Google Cloud Model Garden, Reaching All Three Major Clouds
Key points
- Google Cloud adds OpenAI models to Model Garden
- Three OpenAI models and Codex agent features offered
- OpenAI now on all three major clouds after AWS and Microsoft
Google Cloud is adding OpenAI models to Model Garden, its AI model service. According to Techworld News, Google Cloud and OpenAI said on the 21st (local time) that Model Garden will offer OpenAI models and Codex. Digital Daily described Model Garden as a service where developers pick from multiple AI models.
Outlets described the lineup in similar terms. Hellot, Datanet and TechM reported that Google Cloud will offer all three major closed LLMs alongside more than 200 first-party, third-party and open models on a single unified enterprise AI platform. IT Chosun summarized that enterprise customers can now use OpenAI's GPT models after Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude. On the number of models, Datanet's headline says three GPT-6 models, while TechM's headline says three OpenAI models.
For OpenAI, distribution channels have grown. Chosun Biz and AI Times reported that by selling models on Google Cloud after AWS and Microsoft Azure, OpenAI now has all three major clouds. AI Times wrote that the two companies, rivals with ChatGPT and Gemini, are cooperating on sales in the enterprise market.
Reports differ slightly on timing. Digital Today, citing CNBC, reported that Google will add OpenAI GPT models to Model Garden and its coding tool Antigravity within weeks. Other outlets wrote that they are being released or offered, so when use actually begins reads differently across reports.
AI Newspaper (인공지능신문) analyzed that cloud providers that have built platforms around their own models are actively embracing outside models to win enterprise customers, speeding up competition in opening up models.
