According to Newsis, as the government's manufacturing AI transformation policy, M.AX, spreads, a forecast of talent demand by industry is being pursued to support it. Newsis reported that the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) is pursuing the effort to prepare for the aging and retirement of skilled workers and to secure talent who can use AI on production floors. The report came out on Oct. 30.
Policy activity has branched out in several directions over the past few days. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the launch ceremony for the M.AX Alliance data subcommittee on the 29th at the Manufacturing AI Solution Center in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province (Hellot, Robot Newspaper). Industry News reported that the ministry unveiled its first comprehensive strategy for manufacturing data to link data accumulated on factory floors to AI training and use, and Hellot reported that the M.AX manufacturing data roadmap was announced for the first time.
There was also an event to spread the policy in the regions. According to Newsis, KIAT held the third M.AX Regional Expansion Conference on the 28th at the Gumi Convention Center in North Gyeongsang Province, supporting regional manufacturers in adopting and using AI technology on production floors. On the same day, Chosun Biz reported that Minister Kim Jung-kwan of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy attended an M.AX AI manufacturers' meetup in Gumi and met company representatives. The event aims to connect regional manufacturers with AI-related companies and raise the competitiveness of both.
Other ministries were also on the move. According to AI Times, the Ministry of Science and ICT met with industry, academic and research experts on the 29th at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul. The ministry said it will build a Physical AI Training Center next year to produce and use training data for physical AI, and will also pursue on-site demonstration projects with Korea Post.
