Chosun University was selected as one of the final eight universities outside the capital region in the '2026 AI Hub University Program,' run by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). It will receive about 21.2 billion won in state funds for up to eight years.
The program is a government support project that reorganizes university education systems around AI and trains AI specialists and AX (AI transformation) convergence talent.
Chosun University pointed to measures including an 'AI SW Convergence Institute' under the president to extend AI education across the university, and Kyosu Shinmun (교수신문) reported in its headline that it will hire 100 AI faculty members.
