Nvidia is in talks about additional investment in, or an acquisition of, the U.S. AI startup Reflection AI. The Financial Times reported this on Oct. 10 (local time), citing sources, and AI Times and Digital Today said the talks are at an early stage.
According to Chosun Biz, instead of buying the whole company, hiring key researchers and securing technology usage rights are also reportedly part of the talks. Digital Today reported that the deal could take several forms.
IT Chosun said that, as Chinese companies expand their market with cheap open-weight AI models, the talks are analyzed as an effort to support the development of U.S.-made open-weight AI models. Coverage differed in scope: IT Chosun described the talks as being about additional investment, while the other outlets described them as considering an investment or acquisition.
