Key points
- Mobilint develops NPU platform for humanoids
- Multiple AI models run at once inside the robot
- Validation planned in LG Electronics humanoid environment
AI chip company Mobilint will develop a neural processing unit (NPU) and AI computing platform for humanoid robots. AI Times reported that the company said so on the 22nd. According to AI Times, the project is part of the K-On-Device AI Semiconductor technology development program of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, with Mobilint as the lead research institution.
Digital Daily reported that it will build a low-power computing platform that can run multiple AI models at once inside a robot. Chosun Biz described it as technology linking environmental perception to judgment and motion control, and Hellot reported that it integrates the NPU, accelerator modules and software into one platform.
Reports differ slightly on the relationship with LG Electronics. AI Times wrote that it is being developed with LG Electronics, while Digital Daily and Chosun Biz reported plans to validate it in LG Electronics' humanoid systems in the future.
