Supermicro Unveils Liquid-Cooled Rack with 256 Nvidia Vera CPUs
Key points
- Liquid-cooled rack with 256 Vera CPUs unveiled
- Built for agentic AI and reinforcement learning work
- 22,500 agent sandboxes per rack
Supermicro unveiled an Nvidia Vera CPU rack as the latest product in its Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) portfolio. Techworld News and Betanews reported that the rack holds 256 Nvidia Vera CPUs and is designed to handle high-density CPU computing for agentic AI and reinforcement learning (RL) workloads and data processing.
Descriptions of the cooling method differed slightly across outlets. Techworld News and Digital Daily described it as 100% liquid cooling (Digital Daily said direct liquid cooling), while Datanet used a different Korean spelling for liquid-cooled. Betanews reported that a single rack can run up to 22,500 AI agent sandboxes at the same time.
Supermicro also recently raised its earnings outlook. Chosun Biz reported that Supermicro forecast quarterly revenue to grow about 3.8 times from a year earlier, raising its previous forecast by about 27% and also lifting its profitability outlook. EBN reported that its quarterly revenue forecast rose to $19.5 billion. Digital Daily wrote that Supermicro rose 9% on the New York stock market on the 21st (U.S. time).
Glossary Reinforcement learning (RL) is a learning method in which AI improves its behavior by trial and error toward earning more reward. A sandbox is an independent environment, isolated from external systems, where programs can be run and tested safely.
