- Cooperation to expand to humanoid vision and robot hands
LG Innotek will work with Nvidia to develop sensing solutions for physical AI and robots. Robot Newspaper, TheElec and Techworld News reported that LG Innotek announced this at Nvidia's GTC Berlin in Berlin, Germany, on the 20th (local time). EBN's summary gives the event date as the 22nd, so outlets differ on the date.
Digital Today and Digital Daily gave technical details. According to the two outlets, LG Innotek unveiled a sensing solution using Nvidia's Holoscan Sensor Bridge (HSB) technology. Digital Today introduced a 3-megapixel camera module and multimodal vision, while Digital Daily reported that the approach sends data directly to AI without passing through the CPU, reducing latency.
TheElec outlined how the two fit together: Nvidia's sensor data transmission technology combined with LG Innotek's camera, lidar and radar technology. EBN reported that the plan is to link complex sensing, such as cameras and lidar, with Nvidia's AI platform to widen business opportunities in the robot and autonomous driving markets.
The scope of cooperation is expected to widen. TheElec, Bloter and Chosun Biz reported that it will extend to vision sensing for humanoids and robot hands. iNews24 wrote that the two companies plan to unveil new technology developed together next year.
IT Chosun covered the news together with Samsung Electro-Mechanics on the same day, reporting that both companies are widening their businesses, centered on smartphones and automotive electronics, toward AI infrastructure and physical AI.
