Krafton's Ludo Robotics Unveils Robot AI Ludi 0.2
Key points
- Krafton's Ludo Robotics unveils robot AI Ludi 0.2
- Strengthened social intelligence to recognize human intent and gestures
- Presented at a UC Berkeley symposium on Oct. 30
Ludo Robotics, Krafton's robotics research subsidiary, has unveiled "Ludi 0.2," an AI system for robots that communicate and cooperate with people. Krafton announced it on Nov. 2. Kukmin Ilbo, EBN, Digital Daily, AI Times, VentureSquare, IT Chosun, Digital Today, Inven, Industry News and iNews24 reported the same news.
The unveiling took place at the 2026 Bay Area Robotics Symposium, a robotics academic event at UC Berkeley in the United States. Digital Today, iNews24 and IT Chosun wrote that the presentation was on Oct. 30 (local time). Inven reported that Lee Kang-wook, Krafton's CAIO and Ludo Robotics' CTO, presented Ludi 0.2 there. AI Times also announced the opening of a Palo Alto research lab in its headline, and Digital Daily wrote that the company has set up a research base in the United States. Kukmin Ilbo ran a commemorative photo of Krafton CEO and Ludo Robotics CEO Kim Chang-han and CAIO and CTO Lee Kang-wook at the Ludo Robotics headquarters research lab in Palo Alto, U.S.
The technical descriptions were similar but worded slightly differently. VentureSquare reported that Ludi 0.2 builds on the language understanding and object manipulation functions of the earlier model and strengthens social intelligence, recognizing human intent and gestures and responding to changing situations. Digital Today also wrote that it is a system that understands human intent and gestures and acts according to changes in the situation. Digital Daily said the company is expanding research into robot AI that grasps human intent and body language, and described the system as a follow-up version that complements the interaction functions of the existing system. IT Chosun introduced it as a model that grasps human intent and flexibly handles unexpected situations.
Interpretations of the business direction also differed by outlet. IT Chosun saw the unveiling as a move to speed up the expansion of the "physical AI" ecosystem beyond games. Industry News wrote that it is an attempt to extend AI capabilities built in the game industry to the real world, and put targeting the global robotics market in its headline. EBN explained that Krafton is widening its business into entertainment and robotics with AI technology accumulated in game development, and also covered the domestic launch of the K-pop AI character chat service "Kiff" the same day.
Recent developments Krafton Chairman Jang Byung-gyu gave a keynote on the theme "Expanding Toward Infinity" at the demo day of the 2026 Chung Ju-yung Startup Competition at COEX in Seoul on the 28th. Digital Daily reported that the speech indicated Krafton is pursuing new AI businesses in addition to games and physical AI, and Industry News reported that Krafton is formally expanding beyond its core game business into physical AI and new AI businesses.
Glossary Physical AI refers to artificial intelligence applied to machines that move in real physical spaces, such as robots. A symposium is an academic gathering where researchers present and discuss a specific topic.
