Wall Street's Three Major Indexes Rise as Falling Treasury Yields Offset AI Spending Worries
Key points
- Three major New York indexes all close higher
- Falling Treasury yields drive the rebound
- Chip and server stocks weak on AI spending burden
On the 15th (local time), the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all closed higher in New York. According to Chosun Biz, the Dow rose 556.21 points, or 1.08%, to close at 52,177.69.
A drop in U.S. Treasury yields was cited as the driver of the gains. Betanews and EBN reported that concerns over AI companies' enormous investment costs and debt burdens weighed on tech stocks, but buying spread to consumer stocks and others.
Digital Daily reported that tech stocks, which were weak early in the session, recovered some of their losses as yields fell, but semiconductor and AI server stocks stayed weak.
