Key points
- Naver D2SF makes new investment in TraceWeave
- AI architecture that keeps memory usage constant
- VentureSquare reports a 3 billion won seed round
D2SF, Naver's startup nurturing and strategic investment arm, made a new investment in TraceWeave, an on-device AI startup. iNews24, Techworld News, AI Times and others reported that Naver announced it on Oct. 21.
TraceWeave developed Phase-TITAN, which replaces the existing Transformer architecture. The architecture is designed to keep memory usage constant even as the information it processes grows longer, and outlets reported that it can understand long contexts and carry out multi-step tasks. AI Times described it as a startup that solved the memory problem long seen as a stumbling block for on-device AI receiving an investment from Naver.
Outlets covered the size of the investment to differing degrees. VentureSquare said in its headline that the company raised 3 billion won in a seed round, and the amount cannot be confirmed from the other outlets' summaries.
