Ministry of Science and ICT Opens Public Contest for "AI for Everyone" Brand Name and Slogan
Key points
- Public invited to suggest policy brand name and slogan
- Submissions accepted through Nov. 6
- National AI service being prepared for launch within the year
The Ministry of Science and ICT said on the 26th that it is holding a contest to receive public suggestions for the policy brand name and slogan of "AI for Everyone" from the 26th through Nov. 6. "AI for Everyone" is a project that supports letting anyone use services based on domestic AI models easily and without burden.
Digital Daily, iNews24 and AI Newspaper (인공지능신문) wrote that the government is preparing to launch the service within the year. AI Newspaper reported that the contest aims to publicize the project's purpose and broaden public interest and participation ahead of the official launch.
Recent reports on the project have continued. iNews24 reported that at the National Assembly audit on the 23rd, it was pointed out that liability for compensation is unclear if damage is caused by errors in "AI for Everyone," which is due for official launch in December, and that Minister Bae Kyung-hoon replied that he would clarify the sharing of responsibility among participating companies. The same outlet earlier reported that the National Assembly Research Service judged it could be hard for users to prove operators' liability for damage from errors. Digital Daily reported that Kakao is training its "Kanana" model for "AI for Everyone" on AWS cloud while running the service on government GPUs, a split infrastructure setup.
Glossary A GPU (graphics processing unit) was originally a semiconductor for graphics computation, but because it can handle many calculations at once, it is widely used for training and running AI models. The cloud is a way of renting servers and storage over the internet.
