- Turn MLCC and package substrate opportunities into results through execution
Samsung Electro-Mechanics held its 53rd founding anniversary ceremony at its Suwon campus on Nov. 2. President Chang Duck-hyun said in his address, "The AI industry is only at 'January 1' now." Digital Today, iNews24, Chosun Biz, Digital Daily, EBN, IT Chosun, Techworld News and Tech M reported the news.
Tech M reported that Chang said demand and technical difficulty for key components are surging as AI servers and data centers expand. Chosun Biz and IT Chosun wrote that Chang stressed that opportunities in core businesses such as multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and semiconductor package substrates must be turned into results. iNews24 reported, in essence, that execution is needed in all areas, including development, production, quality and safety and environment.
He also made requests about ways of working. Digital Daily reported that Chang asked all employees to adopt AI agents, urging them to cut simple repetitive work and focus on what is essential. According to the same report, the ceremony was held online and offline at the same time at the Suwon campus. EBN explained that employees at all sites at home and abroad, including Sejong and Busan, took part in real time through the company's internal broadcast network.
Recent developments Samsung Electro-Mechanics said on the 30th that it signed an MLCC supply contract worth about 879.3 billion won for AI servers with a large global company. According to Chosun Biz, the contract period is one year, from Dec. 21 to Dec. 21 next year, and it is the second-largest of the long-term MLCC supply contracts disclosed this year. It is the company's eighth long-term supply contract this year, bringing the cumulative total above 5 trillion won. The cumulative amount was given as about 5.18 trillion won by iNews24 and 5.2 trillion won by Digital Daily. Digital Daily also wrote the contract as worth 880 billion won, so rounding differs by outlet.
Glossary MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitor) is a small component that helps current flow stably in electronic devices, made by stacking layers of ceramic and electrodes. A package substrate is a board that connects a semiconductor chip to the main board.
